I have eaten here twice and would gladly go again, my steak was grilled perfectly and the Mac and cheese was awesome. Would highly recommend

I don't live in this area anymore but it was a great little gem for the location. The menu had a variety of choices. I had a salad with walnuts, chicken and a chipotle dressing. It was pretty good. There mac and cheese was wonderful. There is plenty of space in this restaurant for a big party and it wasn't very crowded for 7pm on a Saturday.

Most unusual experience I have ever had, I stopped by to book a party for my company and asked for Jason the owner. He was at the bar speaking to a sales person and never acknowledged me, looked my way or asked me what I wanted. The bartender knew I was waiting for him and told me that he was going to be at least an hour with the sales person and wanted to know if I could come back. Just wanted to let you know that you should talk to all customers that want to talk to you or at least acknowledge them, you never know what they are there for. I took my party to another restaurant that cares.

We were there, on the Friday of 4th of July weekend, for a family dinner. (6 adults 1 toddler) Our server was wonderful and attentive. The menu had something for everyone, and a good value for the $. We'll be back!!!

Food was decent. Nice wine list. Service was barely okay, at best. With better service, this place would receive much better reviews. The hostess didn't even say "hello" or "how many in your party" but instead started walking and she just expected us to follow her. When she looked back at us, we figured it out and we walked quickly to catch up to her. We then had to speak up because she sat us at a table for two but we had two more joining our party. Then, the waitress was somewhat friendly but provided awful service.

My boyfriend and I were on a weekend escape to Amish Country and stayed in nearby Dover. We wanted to go have a nice dinner on Sunday evening and googled what was close by. We chose Bistro 131 because it sounded like a nice place to go and wasn't just another chain restaurant. We pulled in about 515pm- prime dinner time especially on a Sunday- to a pretty empty parking lot. We were greeted with a friendly smile and quickly seated. The decor is very modern and inviting. The lighting was a bit bright, and in fact started to give me a headache the longer we sat there. Speaking of waiting...our servers name was Libby and she had the personality of...well...my boyfriend said she reminded him of Cruela DeVille (from 101 Dalmations). I asked her about this "punch" drink, if it were good, with a blank stare her response was, " I sell a lot of them." Okay then, order I did. We also placed an appetizer order of stuffed hot peppers when we ordered our drinks. About 30 minutes later our appetizer came out. "Be careful, its very hot." Cruela warned us. My boyfriend stuck his fork in one to put on my plate- his fork got stuck...so I pulled it off with my fingers. Wait? I pulled this "be careful, it's hot" food off his fork with my finger? Yes, I did. I continued to literally crumble the sausage stuffed pepper in my hand. We laughed and called another waitress over to let her know. She apologized profusely and took it away. Our waitress returned about ten minutes later and said, "I heard your peppers were cold...he's making you new ones." Never an apology or anything. Instead she said, "that doesn't happen too often." Hum, shouldn't it. It happen EVER?!?! Haha! We let her know that we didn't want them now, we want our entrees. We let her know we were vacationing when she recommended we take the peppers home instead and she seemed irritated and inconvenienced with us. Our salads came out ten minutes later. We both ordered the house salad with house dressing. The salads had next to no flavor and the dressing was mostly all oil. Disappointment again. About twenty minutes later our entrees came out. My boyfriend order the special- an 8oz Filet Mignon with fingerling potatoes and squash with arugula. His steak was cooked beautifully but had no seasoning which damn near ruined the whole thing. The potatoes had more flavor than the steak- that's not saying much. I ordered The Stallion Mac and Cheese; a four cheese Mac and cheese with Italian spicy sausage and broccoli. It was a humongous portion and entirely too rich in flavor, but did have decent flavor. We were given our bill with no offer of dessert or asked how things were. We quickly paid our bill and headed back to our hotel. As we drove across the road- we noticed a Road House. We laughed and at the same time said, "oh man!!" Had we known about that being there we would have eaten there. Hell, I would have rather eaten at the Sheetz gas station over Bistro131. Would I return? Would I recommend to a friend? That's a simple- no. They have great potential to be pretty amazing but obviously choose not to be.

My daughter and I decided to stop here for lunch and not one car in parking lot which is always a bad sign but I figured I would still try it. Bad service!!!! Waitress was so rude! Food was expensive for the poor quality. Will not go back

I'm a server here and I think the food is really good...I cooked for 8 years before serving and the food is pretty tasty. Come on in and give us a try!

I have only been to this place once, and will never be back. My boyfriend and I got sat quickly. We waited for our server to come by for over 10 minutes. We both ordered cocktails, which were terrible. They were over priced and badly made. My salad had wilted lettuce and my lobster mac and cheese was just pasta with store bought sauce on it. My boyfriend ordered a sandwich that was ok; there was barely any meat on it at all. We spent over an hour in the restaurant. I was very disappointed. The food is overpriced and not even good; the service is terrible. I would not recommend.
(1)Dan Y.
Average at best. Service was terrible. The waitress asked me how was the food. I said the soup was good but the croutons were terrible. She said good as she was walking away. Prices are cheap though, and the food was okay. Decor is beautiful, pity the food and service were decent at best.

It was a nice place and the staff was friendly. They were out if my first choice of beer and my first choice of a side dish. I had the special which was blue crab Mac & Cheese but it came out luke warm. This place has the potential to be good, they just need to be more prepared

The Bistro is the place to go in New Philadelphia. GREAT Reubens, good burgers, Great staff. Nice bar to sit down in and have a bite to eat and a drink. I stayed at the Holiday Inn next door for a few months, and the staff gets to know the regulars and treats us great!

This is a nice restaurant owned by the same people who own the lighthouse bistro at Atwood lake. Very very good !
(4)Justin M.
The bistro is my favorite place for me and my wife to go. It has a great setting and atmosphere. The staff is so friendly and nice. The food is excellent! I recommend it for everyone!
(5)Whitney G.
We had quick and friendly service, good old fashioned sodas and excellent food. We will definitely go back for a nice dinner!

Not sure that Libby felt like working that night and the cooking staff that couldn't get my order right after two attempts on a slow week night gave me no confidence that this place will be any better on a weekend night. Stay away! Yes this is a small town but you are better off at a fast food place further down the road. Just pitiful!

The best restaurant in town and the only restaurant worth visiting. Weak gluten free options .

Remembering this place when it was a Texas Roadhouse, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. They had a nice selection of quality food, for not too expensive of a price. Their beer selection on draught was small, although it looked like they had a good variety of bottled beer. Their big draw, in terms of alcohol, is a good selection of wine. That being said, they were out of the White Star we ordered, which was quite the disappointment (it was only $50 for the bottle). As for the food, it was well prepared, well presented, and tasty. Costs were reasonable, and the bread that came with the table was the best I've had in Tuscarawas County since the River Biscuit closed down. We wanted to get some crème brûlée, but they were out of that too. All in all, I give this place 4 stars. Part of that is because four stars means I'm a fan (and isn't a bad thing), and part of it is because they seemed a little unprepared for some of what we wanted to order. But the service was good, the food was good, and if you're looking for a nice dinner in the Dover/Phila area, I'd recommend this place.

I'm hoping this page is removed soon, because this restaurant is no longer in business, but while it is up let me explain why. The bistro 131 restaurant closed its doors monday April 6th without notice. Without notice to its employees or to all the wedding couples and other groups who had booked and payed a deposit on the reception hall here. The owner Jason Geissinger has stolen the $1,000 deposit from my fiancé and I for our wedding along with countless others. We now have 30 days to find a new venue. Hopefully justice will be brought upon him in the future. Please if you evenr see a business owned by Jason Geissinger DOT NOT give him a penny of your money. He is a thief and a scam artist.

It might have been a bad night but I will never go back. They lost me as a costumer and I would not Tell a friend about it. The wait staff sucked bad.

I like this place, IF it's open. The food and drinks are more expensive here than any where else in this town. I guess the food is worth the price. I don't understand why drinks are unnecessarily expensive. The service is good.
(3)Brent B.
Very tasty food. I had the scallops n pork belly w/ kale. Left sated without feeling stuffed. Decor will probably improve with time. Attractive and attentive wait staff. Support locally owned businesses.
(4)Scott O.
My friend and I stopped in to try it out. Not many people there. The food looked good, cooked we'll but no salt or pepper at all. Would have made the steak almost perfect it were cooked with it on it.

This restaurant was a happy accident for me! We stopped at the Holiday Inn next door after an entire day of driving. Starving, but not really in the mood to "go out" to eat, we ALMOST ordered Chinese. But we ended up ordering carry out from the Bistro and walked over to pick it up. The service on the phone and at pick up was FANTASTIC. I am a long time caterer, so I am very picky about customer service in food service. The hostess who answered the phone got so excited when my fiance ordered the meatballs and told him they were her very favorite (and she wasn't just saying that). I ordered the linguini with clams and we got a salad and bread to split. Every bite of both of our meals was soooooo good! And we ate in our pajamas which is what we really wanted. Usually, restaurant take out is sub-par... you kind of have to just eat there for it to be at its best. But this meal was such a welcome end to our long day. I will say that we ordered the cheesecake for desert to split and it was..."eh". Not bad, but I've certainly had better. If we ever find ourselves in NP, OH again, we'd definitely make sure to hit this place up again for dinner!
